Weddings at The Ickworth Hotel

There's a particular kind of magic in getting married at The Ickworth Hotel. That extraordinary Rotunda, the parkland stretching out in every direction, the quiet grandeur of the place — it makes even a small guest list feel like a genuine occasion.

As a Bury St Edmunds wedding photographer, I'm lucky enough to shoot here often, and every time I'm reminded why it's become such a favourite of mine.

Reasons to Get Married at The Ickworth

A setting with real presence. Set within the Ickworth Estate, the house's Georgian architecture and surrounding parkland give any wedding a proper sense of occasion. There's simply nowhere else in Suffolk quite like it.

Photography opportunities at every turn. From outside of the Rotunda itself to the gardens and woodland beyond, I never run out of beautiful backdrops here.

A team that knows how to host well. The Ickworth's staff and wedding coordinators are genuinely good at what they do, whatever size your day is.

Easy for guests, wherever they're coming from. Just outside Bury St Edmunds and well connected to Cambridge and London, with over 20 bedrooms on site for anyone staying over.

Planning Your Own Wedding at The Ickworth

Choose a venue that feels grand, not just cosy. A smaller guest list is the perfect excuse to book somewhere you might otherwise think is out of reach.

Put the money where it'll actually show. With fewer people to feed, you can genuinely upgrade — better food, real flowers, a photographer there for the whole day.

Give the day room to breathe. Build your timeline around a slower, calmer pace rather than rushing it.

Think about the light, not just the layout. The Ickworth hotel has real architectural character — work with a photographer who knows how to use it properly.
