A Timeless Wedding at Downing College, Cambridge

Anna & Benito’s elegant celebration filled with joy, laughter and an unforgettable family spirit

There are weddings you enjoy photographing, and then there are weddings that stay with you long after the day has ended. Anna and Benito’s beautiful celebration at Downing College, Cambridge was one of those days for me.

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, open and filled with genuine happiness. And once you know their story, childhood sweethearts who grew up side-by-side and built a life woven with deep affection, it’s easy to understand why this day felt so meaningful to everyone there.

A love story years in the making

Anna and Benito’s relationship has that rare kind of magic: the comfort of growing up together combined with the excitement of building a future they dreamed about since they were young.

Their connection is beautifully effortless. The way they move around one another, the glances they share, the laughter that comes so naturally. It all carries the softness and depth of two people who know each other completely.

This history, this foundation of shared memories and childhood beginnings, brought a special warmth to the entire day. It didn’t just feel like a wedding, it felt like a continuation of a lifelong story.

Downing College Cambridge: The perfect backdrop for an elegant, relaxed celebration

Downing College has quickly become one of my favourite Cambridge wedding venues. The neoclassical columns, the sweeping green lawns, the soft natural light that bounces across the stone, everything about it feels timeless, calm and beautifully photogenic.

For Anna and Benito, it created the ideal balance: elegant enough to honour the significance of the day, yet relaxed and open enough to let their personalities shine.

Some of my favourite spots we used for photos included:

  • The columned walkways for classic, quiet portraits

  • The lawns where guests spilled out, chatting and laughing

  • The tree-lined paths that gave us gentle, intimate moments

  • The historic hall, glowing warmly during the reception

Downing College always photographs beautifully, but on this day, surrounded by this wonderful couple and their families, it felt even more special.
